RecoveryMaxx™ provides optimum combustion conditions through the entire operational range of your recovery boiler - responding correctly to normal liquor variability and reducing the need for operator intervention in the combustion process, with boiler setup memory and rule-based combustion behavior built in.
Request a Free Evaluation → All ServicesThere are two opportunities for recovery boiler operation improvement: better liquor conversion (increased reduction efficiency), and more process steam from a given quantity of liquor conversion, measured as steaming rate (# steam / # black liquor dry solids). The barrier to both is the same - inconsistent boiler operation and combustion variability.
Better conversion and reduction efficiency is a cost savings opportunity calculated on the reduction of make-up chemicals and the energy needs of unnecessary recycle. Improving the steaming rate (#steam/#BLDS) is quantified as an offset of your most expensive power boiler steam source - two distinct, quantifiable paths to the same bottom line.
Inconsistent operation and combustion variability show up as poor reduction efficiency, dry stack gas losses, and fouling. Poor reduction and excessive dry stack gas losses are short-term issues. Fouling is the long-term one - reduced heat transfer, downtime, and cleaning costs, and in more severe cases equipment deterioration and damage.
Black liquor variability can often be reduced through better density and temperature control, though many factors remain outside operations' control. Operator variability is the other source - shift-to-shift differences in how each operator responds to changes in combustion, plus longer-term drift, like liquor temperature creeping up ten degrees or more before anyone notices.
Consumed-air control strategies have been installed successfully in over forty boilers across North America. DES used those principles, then recognized the shortcomings of a fixed air/fuel ratio as process and feed changes altered the liquor and trims maximized out. RecoveryMaxx is our reconfigured, far more capable and robust answer - unmatched by the competition.
Every number below comes from actual EMRS deployments at named client facilities - results that were measured, documented, and held accountable to pre-deployment audit projections.
"The results have been impressive, without question, EMRS has delivered significant and measurable improvements in our energy efficiency and cost performance. What's perhaps more significant is the cultural shift it has enabled: our operators have more time to focus on the right things."
Unlike advisory systems, EMRS completes the loop - sensing conditions, computing the optimal state, acting on the process, and reporting results every second without human intervention.
EMRS CLOSED-LOOP ARCHITECTURE - SENSE · COMPUTE · ACT · REPORT
Available for installation in all modern distributed control and PLC systems or as a PC-based application interfacing to most control systems via industry standard communication protocols.
Our engineering team will assess your facility's specific dynamics and identify exactly what EMRS can deliver - in documented financial terms, specific to your processes. No obligation. No sales pitch. Just numbers.
